Our story
Aumkar Plantations was founded in 1978 and commenced operations by planting 1000 acres of palm oil in Kpg Kalumpang in Tawau, Sabah. Today it has grown to 25,000 acres of land around the Tawau, Kunak and Lahad Dato regions planted with largely oil palm, and some small banks of coconut, bamboo, cloves and nutmeg.
In 2007, Aumkar commissioned a 45mt/h palm oil and now crushes its own fruits to produce crude palm oil and palm kernels. These are sold to refiners in Lahad Dato and Kunak areas. In 2016, Aumkar commissioned its biogas plant together with a 1MW gas engine to almost eliminate all diesel genset consumption. A roll over of medium voltage cables also saw the elimination of almost all diesel genets in its estates. In 2021, Aumkar commissioned its Biomethane plant which now fuels 12 biomethane trucks. Aumkar now transports CPO, PK and FFB on biomethane generating huge savings in reduced diesel consumption.
In 2026, Aumkar has commissioned a Pyrolysis plant turning felled oil palm tree trunks into biochar and earning CORCs on the Puro.Earth Exchange. Simultaneously it has commissioned a Torrefaction plant producing black pellets from EFB that acts as a drop in replacement for coal.
